About Ravenswood
Ravenswood is a neighborhood located in the north side of the city of Chicago, Illinois, USA. According to the Realtors Association, Ravenswood's approximate area is bordered by the north at Foster Avenue, Montrose Avenue on the south, by the west at the Chicago River, and by the east at Ashland Avenue. Ravenswood is known for its 'courtyard' style residential buildings. It is one of Chicago's most affluent neighborhoods with a good mix of mexican, german, korean, and eastern european immigrants making up about half of the population. Generally, the other half of the neighborhood's residences are made up of just-married white couples whom came from Lincoln Park. Ravenswood is known for its parking-friendly streets where you can actually park within a block or two from your destination. Another fun fact about Ravenswood is that it is the permanant residency of current Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (D), specifically located in the 'Ravenswood Manor' section of Ravenswood (west end). Ravenswood, once considered an "up and coming" neighborhood has recently seen its real estate values sky-rocket, making it one of the highest in the city. Ravenswood features the Lincoln Square commerically zoned neighborhood located in the middle. Otherwise most of Ravenswood is residentially zoned, with exceptions along Lawrence Avenue, Montrose Avenue, Wilson Avenue, and parts of Damen and Western Avenues. Ravenswood enjoys one of the best transportation arrangements in the city. With the Brown Line spur running across the center from west to east (or vice versa) getting to downtown is simplified. Also, Buses run across several major streets running through Ravenswood.
